Spiritual Growth and Formation: Adult Education at Church of the Reformation.

Faith Formation is a fundamental commitment of Christian life. Faith Formation and growth in faith is intentional. It asks openness, invites discipline, encourages the probing of new information and celebrates new understanding. Learning does not happen by accident. It is a choice we make, inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit.

And so St. Paul writes: I pray that out of his glorious richs [the Lord] may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. [St. Paul in Ephesians 3:16-19]

At Church of the Reformation we strive to present various opportunities for adults to grow in their faith and to explore their role as a Christian in today’s world. 

The Adult Forum:
Featuring presentations, films and discussions on various topics, many of them related to the work settings of Reformation members.
Sundays, 9:45 am - 10:45 am, in the Parish Hall.

Monday Night Live!
This Bible Study focuses on different books and themes from both the Old and the New Testaments, as well as scholarly theological literature. Lengths vary from six to twelve weeks - check for the current updates.
Mondays, 7:00 pm - 8.30 pm.

Lectures:
From time to time Reformation sponsors films, lectures and presentations by guest scholars and experts in various fields of study. 

Capitol Hill Faith Forum:
Reformation is part of the Capitol Hill Faith Forum, which presents events throughout the year, in cooperation with Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church, Christ Church–Washington Parish, St. Marks Episcopal Church, Capitol Hill United Methodist Church, and Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

October 18: Michael Wilken, Exec. Director of the Lutheran Volunteer Corps, talks about the young people coming to D.C. to serve

CZ BookChristian Zionism 
Presentation by Rev. Stephen Sizer, biblical scholar, Anglican priest, lecturer and author, most recently of a book on Christian Zionism that will be the focus of his talk on Friday, November 13 at 7:00 pm.  Dr. Mark Braverman, DC area psychologist and author, will be the respondent, followed by a discussion. Co-sponsored by the Capitol Hill Faith Forum and the Metro DC ELCA Middle East Working Group.

A reading, lecture and discussion on Thursday, December 3 at 7:00 pm with Washington DC author Mark Braverman on his provocative new book. Sponsored by the Capitol Hill Faith Forum and the Middle East Working Group, Metro DC Synod, ELCA.

 

Couplehood as a Spiritual Path Workshop
