What to Expect on Sunday Mornings
when we are gathered in-person
Currently, we are not gathering for in-person worship. For virtual worship details and how to join us via Livestream or Zoom visit our this Worship page.
Worship at Lutheran Church of the Reformation is an experience of the Biblical Story, a proclamation of the Gospel in today’s world and the celebration of Holy Communion each Sunday when we're gathering in-person.
For most of the year when we are in person, we have two worship services, both held in the large sanctuary space. The 8:30 am service includes music led by an organ and a singer and an 11:00 am service that incorporates a very talented choir. The early service is a more intimate group, averaging about 20-30 in attendance, while the later service usually has 100 or more. Lutheran liturgy is participatory – all are invited to “enter in”, and we are blessed by many liturgical leaders from our congregation.
Sunday Morning Education, with groups for all ages (including adults!), is offered between the services from 10:00 am-10:45 am. Contact Pastor Ben, our associate pastor, for more information on how to get connected.
During the summer the 8:30 am service will remain the same but the late service will move an hour earlier and begin at 10:00 am and there will be no Sunday Morning Education. For most of the summer, the choir will be on "summer break." Special music will be provided by a variety of musicians.
Children are always welcome in worship, but sometimes caregivers with children need some other options. The Blue Room, at the rear left of the sanctuary, is equipped with sound. Some caregivers and restless children follow the service there. For children four years and younger, we also have a nursery staffed by Mayra Ramirez from 8:15-12:15. The nursery is in the lower level of the St. John’s Building. You can ask an usher for assistance in finding the space.
After each service we enjoy social time together! Following the 8:30 service we gather in the blue room for coffee and snacks. After the later service, we gather downstairs in the parish hall for fellowship and goodies as well. We hope you will join us!
